One of the more unusual landmarks of modern Cardiff is the pink lookout tower beyond the engineering marvel (when the fish pass is working) that is Cardiff Bay Barrage. The distinctive, flamingo-like hut on spindly legs was intended for use by yacht clubs to start and oversee races in the Channel, but due to it being in the wrong location for such a task, it has never been used. (This is what we were told when we did a really insightful Cardiff Council-organised little tour of the Barrage control room, by the way.)
This pink hut graphic is by local designer Steven Smith. It celebrates this fun oddity and captures the 'sunny side up' spirit of our Cardiffornia lifestyle brand, which seeks to celebrate the silver linings in the UK's wettest city. This design is available as an A3-size print, a postcard or on a t-shirt. We hopes you enjoy! More of Steven's work can be seen on his own site, here. |
